Understanding the Ovulation Confirmation Test
An at-home ovulation confirmation test from Basic Benefits accurately measures your ovulation health, helping you stay fully informed about your ovulation cycle and overall reproductive health.
Problems with ovulation can make it more difficult to conceive. When trying to conceive, a couple needs two things: sperm and an egg. Without healthy ovulation, an egg may not be released or may lack the hormonal support needed for conception.
Ovulatory disorders are one of the leading causes of infertility in couples. Tracking PdG (progesterone metabolite) levels 7–10 days after suspected ovulation can confirm whether successful ovulation has occurred.
Our Ovulation Confirmation Test Kits Include:
- Five (5) PdG test strips – enough for one full cycle of testing
- Proov “P” cup
- Access to a fertility hormone tracking app
- Full product instructions
- Free one-on-one customer support
- Invitation to join an online fertility support community
How Can Proov Help?
Proov is the first and only FDA-cleared PdG test designed to confirm ovulation. Because Proov is non-invasive and can be used at home, it is ideal for tracking PdG levels over several days—an essential step in confirming whether successful ovulation occurred and whether conception was possible during that cycle.
Proov works alongside ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) and pregnancy tests, as each measures a different hormone. Using all three together provides the clearest picture of your fertility each month.
How Do I Use Proov?
Confirming ovulation at home with Proov is simple. Follow these four easy steps:
- Pee: Collect first-morning urine in a clean, dry container.
- Dip: Place the test strip into the urine until you see urine rise in the test window (5–10 seconds). Lay the strip flat.
- Wait: Wait 5 minutes for results. Positive tests show one line; negative tests show two lines.
- Plan: Consistently positive tests during the testing window confirm successful ovulation. Negative results may indicate suboptimal or absent ovulation, giving you valuable information for next steps.
How Often Do I Need to Test with Proov?
During one cycle, you will test with Proov five times—exactly the number of test strips included in a one-cycle kit.
Start with a baseline test the day after your period ends. This test should be negative and helps you understand what a negative result looks like for your body.
Next, track peak fertility using your preferred method (LH tests, cervical mucus monitoring, or basal body temperature). Once peak fertility is detected, begin testing with Proov on days 7, 8, 9, and 10 after peak fertility. Ideally, you will see four positive results during this window.
Tracking PdG levels over several days is easy with the free Proov app (available for Android and iOS). Simply enter the date of your last period, follow the app’s testing reminders, and upload photos of your test results to visually track hormone trends over time.
What’s Next?
Proov provides powerful insights to help guide your next steps. If all tests are positive during the testing window, successful ovulation has been confirmed, and ovulatory issues are unlikely to be preventing conception.
If some or all tests are negative, this may indicate suboptimal or absent ovulation. In this case, we recommend sharing your Proov results with your healthcare provider to discuss possible treatment options. Some individuals may benefit from lifestyle changes or natural approaches, while others may require prescription treatment.
